Europe and droughts: Hydrometeorological processes, forecasting, and preparednessA particular focus of the 2023 Annual Meeting, reflecting the interests and activities of the host institutions in Slovakia, will be on droughts and drought-related challenges. Multiple mechanisms trigger droughts: shortfall of precipitation, soil moisture deficits, or reduced moisture supply from snowmelt. Consequently, a holistic and multidisciplinary approach is needed to understand and predict droughts and to develop preparedness, adaptation, and mitigation strategies. In addition, many rivers and river catchments cross country borders, which calls for transboundary cooperation and action. Please visit the website for more details.
It is still time to submit applications to the following award calls:
- EMS Tromp Award for an outstanding achievement in biometeorology 2023: 20 April 2023
- EMS Young Scientist Award: 20 April
- Outreach & Communication Award: 21 May
- EMS Journalistic Award: 21 May
We would be delighted if you would inform your colleagues about these opportunities and distribute the invitation to your networks.
We look forward to receiving your contributions and seeing you in Bratislava or online.
